Learn more about the longer-term Cesar Chavez East Community Design Plan Open House. Join the Planning Department and many community groups on Wednesday February 22, 2012 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Galeria de la Raza (2857 24th Street). After numerous community meetings, interviews, and site visits, the city has produced a vision for connecting neighbors, increasing safety, and supporting a thriving industrial corridor on Eastern Cesar Chavez. After news of the delay in the near-term bicycle project for Cesar Chavez Street from Highway 101 to Interstate 280 in 2011, the SF Bicycle Coalition is ensuring the near-term bike project isn’t delayed further and help plan for the long-term full streetscape improvements. The SFMTA Board of Directors approved final parking and traffic changes in February 2012, and the city will be installing these separated bikeways by the end of March 2012 — stay tuned for news of groundbreaking!
