Re-blogged this the other day but wanted to add comment now:
These are all over the city; Chicagoans had to stop the destruction of these old meters; due to their use as bicycle parking; when the city sold the rights to Chicago’s sidewalks to a private corporation. This occurred via the parking meter privatization and how the city lost control of our streets.
