I was biking in the bike lane on Webster in Downtown, and saw a brown UPS delivery truck up ahead IN the bike lane.
*dyahhrr trying not to get angry because i just picked up lunch and no cars in the other lanes and i can swerve around easily, and deciding whatever—don’t wanna stop to take a photo*
and the UPS guy, a black man, comes jay-walking across the street from the left. he sees me, smiles, and says hello as he reaches his truck.
I smile and say hi back.
then still in a very friendly tone as I’m cycling away “You’re in the bike lane! :) “
and he says “Sorry!”

hah this is the first positive cycling story I felt compelled to note down. in Oakland!
probably a big part of what makes Oakland awesome is all the friendly black people, who like to say hello on the street.
