another hit and run that occurred earlier this year on March 11.The victim, a student named Sho Funai, was killed by a driver who later turned herself in. Despite pleading guilty to striking Funai and admitting to being under the influence of drugs and alcohol, the THEN 18 YEAR OLD driver may only be charged with probation. In response to the verdict, Funai’s friends appalled at the ruling have started an online petition to demand justice for the death of Funai.

:(

Sho Funai was an excellent student at UCSD, BS and Masters in structural engineering… read more on the petition.

» Your Mom is so Berkeley she wants to open a pot club in Albany.

“I’m a single parent and I really think there is a place for it. Albany has a really great vibe. People in Albany are solid family types, and it fits well in a place like that.”

The new entity, called the United Cannabis Collective, is hoping to set up shop at 544 Cleveland Ave. in Albany’s industrial area, a site nestled between two freeways.

There’s a group on fb called “Your Mom is so Berkeley..” (YMISB)

Unfortunately-ish, I am pretty young, and my mom is a first-generation immigrant, so I don’t have anything to contribute to the group. Pretty fun read, though, if you enjoy poking fun at hippies. And some nice vintage photos have been posted, too!

The medical marijuana store previously named iGrow re-opened on Sunday as a national enterprise called weGrow. The opening attracted dozens of reporters and hundreds of visitors to what the owners call the largest store of its kind in the state. “This is one of the thriving businesses California is going to see,” said Oakland City Council member Jean Quan, one of the city leaders who spoke in favor of the store at the kickoff press conference.
